Welvista’s Patient Advocacy Program was created to help address many of the issues facing South Carolina’s uninsured population. Welvista currently has patient advocates on-site at hospitals across the state including:
- Lexington Medical Center
- Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals
- Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System
- Tidelands Healthcare System
- Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital
- Palmetto Health Richland
Our advocates work directly with patients in order to assist with enrollment and make sure they understand our program. With the help of our on-site advocates patients are able to complete the application process during their hospital stay and have the necessary medications send to their home upon discharge. In addition to hospital assistance, advocates are able to promote Welvista on hospital campuses, at local job and health fairs, free clinics, churches and other community venues.
Welvista Patient Advocate Program also includes our organizations’ participation in the South Carolina Proviso as a Safety Net provider for the State of the State of South Carolina. Welvista works closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to expand our services in the forty-six current Healthy Outcome Plan Programs operating in South Carolina. The goal of this initiative is to decrease readmission to the ER and lower the amount of hospital visits by our patients.
Welvista is pleased to announce our new partnership with the South Carolina Thrive Benefit Bank. The Benefit Bank is a web-based service that simplifies and centralizes the process for low-income individuals and families to apply for a variety of state and federal benefits. Through its eligibility-screening tool, the Benefit Bank can ensure that people are fully aware of the benefits they may qualify for. The partnership between Welvista and the Benefit Bank will provide additional access to Welvista for South Carolina patients through out the state.
